HERMES – LEATHER STRAP WORKSHOP – PART 1

This excellent project shares open source thinking into the watchmaking world: transmission of traditional skills, tools and techniques. We asked Michel Boulenger, the lucky student of these illustrious watchmakers, in what phase of the project he’s in and how were things going along as he’s moving from the design phase to enter the actual manufacturing phase.

As we mentioned in a previous editorial, the woman market is still quite untapped and brands are looking into different ways to develop this. A  smart example of this is with Parmigiani Fleurier’s Woman of Exception concept where the idea is not to simply use a glamourous ambassador, but women that have actually achieved something in their lives. Dr Helmut Crott, owner of the brand, gives us some hindsight into the brand’s history and its special relation with the world of science. This could only lead the brand in having an unusual but pertinent ambassador, Dr Etienne Klein, a nuclear physicist specialist in time related issues, but on another level!

After a ten year void period, the geneva watchmaking museum finally put together a fantastic exhibition of some of its many treasures. Before traveling internationally, this exhibition can be seen at the Geneva Musée Rath until the 29th of April of this year.
