Vacheron Constantin purchased a Packard “special ordered” petite and grande sonnerie pocket watch for 1.8 Million Dollars at a Christie’s auction held in New York.

This excellent project shares open source thinking into the watchmaking world: transmission of traditional skills, tools and techniques. We asked Michel Boulenger, the lucky student of these illustrious watchmakers, in what phase of the project he’s in and how were things going along as he’s moving from the design phase to enter the actual manufacturing phase.

Sergio Perez, Formula 1 driver for the Sauber F1 team, and Adrian Bosshard, CEO of Certina, gave us an interview days after the third place finish at the Canadian F1 Grand Prix of the mexican driver. This was a nice occasion for Certina to launch of a limited edition dedicated to the Swiss F1 team.

During a visit to De Bethune’s factory, Denis Flageollet, co-founder and Head of technical departement, explains us in this video their new approach to the regulation of watches: a magnetic oscillating system opening the door to frequencies as high as 20’000 Hertz. Their “open source” approach goes against intellectual protection habits of the industry, but what they want is to make things go fast to the benefit of watchmaking evolution.
