Discover Hands Manufacturing in Watchmaking

Tags: Hands, Manufacturing, Watchmaking supplier

More than 30 operations and at least one week are necessary to manufacture a hand for a high-end watch. The WATCHES.tv filmed into the whole production process at Fiedler's factory in Geneva. It is amazing to see how much attention such a tiny part needs.

I read somewhere that not many watch companies, even high end ones, have inhouse capabilities as far as the manufacture of hands and hairsprings are concerned. That's where companies like Fiedler lend a helping hand I guess. Wrecked my head thinking about a weak pun on hands, and now you have it here for posterity :)

Wish you had said more about Finishing. How are "Blued" metal hands made?? What about applying the "Lume"???

These folks in Geneva must have lots of time on their hands during the winter months to spend their time on decorating hands that tell time.

It's one week from start to finish whole batch of hands. Some time is required for layover since same machines are used for other batches.

As hard as they are to make (with a machine) they are even harder to put on the pinions! IMHO the single hardest part of assembling a mechanical watch for me, is placing the hands back on. :)

And I have been to Geneva and I bought a luxury watch there. At the time the exchange rate was very favorable to the dollar and instead of the dollar being a lot cheaper about a third cheaper it was a third more and therefore the deal was very good.

That's beautiful keep that kind of stuff, man we really want to hear that and my compliments to your English which is very good and I always appreciated the Europeans because they're much more educated than Americans when I went to Europe everybody spoke English you know and even kids were like teenagers who speak and it was beautiful.
